Discover How to Overcome Negativity
Workshop Introduction: Overcoming Negaholism & Turning Your Life Around
Inspired by the work of Dr. Cherie Carter-Scott
Summary
In this powerful and practical workshop, we dive deep into the concept of the Negaholic—a term coined by Dr. Cherie Carter-Scott to describe self-defeating thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs rooted in negativity. Negaholism stems from a combination of chronic stress and what Dr. Carter-Scott calls the “hole in the soul,” an inner void often created by past trauma, unmet needs, or emotional wounds.
A key pattern of Negaholism is the “Negattack”—a harsh internal self-criticism that arises when the reality of your life doesn’t match the expectations or standards you’ve set for yourself. This creates what she calls the “Margin for Beat-Up”—the emotional space where self-blame, guilt, and negative self-talk thrive.
Workshop Focus
We will learn how to recognize, interrupt, and transform these patterns of thought and behavior using a four-part healing process:
- Release – Letting go of emotional baggage and negative self-talk
- Repair – Addressing and healing emotional wounds
- Reconcile – Making peace with past hurts and internal conflicts
- Reconnect – Returning to your authentic self and values
By working through this process, participants will begin to form positive imprints—empowering new beliefs and behaviors that support confidence, self-worth, and resilience.
